January in San José del Cabo: Sun, Sea, and Stunning Getaways
A Dreamy Escape to San José del Cabo
Whale Watching, Art Walks & a Stay at Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos
San José del Cabo has a way of slowing time—in the best possible way. From oceanfront mornings to art-filled evenings, this trip was the perfect blend of relaxation, culture, and a little adventure.
Where We Stayed: Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos
Our home base was Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos, an all-inclusive resort set right on the Sea of Cortez. The resort strikes that sweet spot between laid-back luxury and effortless comfort. Think ocean views, beautifully designed spaces, multiple pools, and the kind of service that makes you truly switch into vacation mode.
Mornings started with coffee overlooking the water, afternoons were spent poolside soaking up the sun, and evenings meant good food and even better company. It’s the kind of place where everything feels easy—which is exactly what you want on vacation.
Whale Watching in the Sea of Cortez
One of the highlights of the trip was whale watching, an absolute must if you’re visiting Los Cabos during the season. Seeing these massive, graceful creatures up close is one of those experiences that stays with you long after the trip ends.
We watched humpback whales breach the surface, tails rising and crashing back into the water, with the coastline of Baja in the distance. It was equal parts peaceful and awe-inspiring—and a reminder of just how special this part of the world is.

San José del Cabo Art Walk
In the evening, we headed into town for the San José del Cabo Art Walk, a weekly event that brings the historic Gallery District to life. Cobblestone streets fill with visitors wandering from gallery to gallery, live music floats through the air, and local artists showcase everything from traditional Mexican art to contemporary pieces.
The Art Walk is one of my favorite ways to experience San José del Cabo—it feels authentic, creative, and community-driven. We strolled, sipped, explored, and took in the vibrant energy that makes this town so charming.
Why San José del Cabo Is Always a Good Idea
This trip perfectly captured why San José del Cabo continues to be one of my favorite destinations. It offers luxury without feeling overdone, culture without feeling touristy, and experiences that feel meaningful rather than rushed.
Whether you’re lounging at a beachfront resort, spotting whales in the wild, or wandering art-filled streets at sunset, San José del Cabo invites you to slow down, explore, and truly enjoy the moment.
