Midcentury Modern 1966 Remodel Project

Transforming a 1966 Midcentury Modern Ranch in Tucson Country Club Estates

There’s something truly special about a midcentury modern ranch home—clean lines, open spaces, and a timeless sense of style. But even the best bones sometimes need a modern refresh. Our recent remodel of a 1966 ranch in the Tucson Country Club Estates took this home from classic to fully reimagined, combining midcentury charm with modern luxury.

Guest Bathroom Remodel

We started with the guest bathroom, turning a functional space into something that feels bright, modern, and inviting. Sleek fixtures, clean tile, and thoughtful storage make this bathroom both practical and beautiful, while nods to midcentury style—like geometric patterns and warm wood tones—keep the character of the home intact.

Guest Bedroom with Ensuite

The guest bedroom and ensuite were designed to feel like a boutique hotel suite. Neutral tones, layered textures, and a seamless connection to the private bathroom create a welcoming retreat for visitors. The ensuite features modern vanities, updated lighting, and high-end finishes that elevate the space without losing the warmth of the original ranch design.

Whiskey Lounge / Living Room Transformation

Next up: the whiskey lounge and living room. This transformation blends comfort, style, and a little indulgence. Rich wood accents, cozy seating, and a curated bar area make it the perfect space to entertain—or relax with a favorite dram of whiskey after a long day. Large windows and midcentury-inspired details tie the space back to the home’s original architectural integrity while creating a modern gathering hub.

The Kitchen Transformation: Opening It All Up

This kitchen remodel was all about space, light, and functionality. We removed two interior walls to completely open up the layout, instantly transforming the kitchen into an open-concept space that flows naturally into the surrounding living areas. The difference was dramatic—what once felt closed off now feels airy, connected, and perfect for both everyday living and entertaining.

We anchored the new design with Cambria quartz countertops, chosen for their durability and clean, elevated look. The waterfall edges add a modern touch while keeping the space timeless. For the sink, we opted for a Kraus granite sink, which delivers both style and practicality. Its non-porous surface makes it hygienic and easy to maintain, and the dense granite construction keeps things surprisingly quiet—an underrated luxury in a busy kitchen.

A gold faucet brings warmth and contrast, tying in beautifully with the rest of the finishes and adding just the right amount of polish without feeling overdone.

One of the most impactful changes was relocating the range to the main wall, creating a true focal point for the kitchen. We installed a 48-inch GE Monogram chef’s range featuring six burners and a built-in griddle, making it as functional as it is statement-worthy. Whether it’s weeknight dinners or hosting friends, this setup finally gives us the space and power to cook the way we want.

Every decision in this remodel was intentional—designed to balance form and function while creating a kitchen that feels open, inviting, and built for real life.
